Around last year The Pell grant received a massive boost from the American Recovery and Reinvestment act (ARRA) of 2009. There were many changes which were highly beneficial. The maximum award available is now worth 5350 dollars. The other most important change which came into place was that now part time students are also eligible to apply for this grant, as before only full time students could apply. This is good news for the people who want to come back to study and keep their jobs intact as well.

Pell school grants for adults were initially available for spring and fall semesters but now it is made available for summer semester as well. This means that students can receive two Pell school grants for adults in a year and finish their program at a faster pace as opposed to getting just a single grant and having to complete the program at a slower pace. Previously when students showed proof of unemployment they had to wait a year before they could get Pell school grant for adults but now they can get it instantly.
